This video will screen-cast some interfaces and functionalities of the system of ETS Campus. This client of this ongoing project is ETS campus (Ref: www.ets.lk)
ETS Campus is an educational institute located in Kegalle offering a variety of courses in Information Technology, Human Resource Management and Quantity Surveying. ETS Campus is awards diplomas and degrees to about 250 students each year. Having produced about 1000 IT professionals for the past 10 years, ETS hopes to provide qualifications to even more students in an increasingly computerized world.
Staff at ETS currently use a paper-based system of to gather data and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to process the gathered data. E.g. Potential students fill out application forms and staff transfer these details to spreadsheets. Calculations for fees payment are carried out re-written on receipts which are then stored as hardcopies. This method has raised two major problems; the redundancy of data and the increasing difficulty to search for required information with data accumulation. In addition, the loss or damage of paper documents in common as files are stored in exposed shelves in the ETS offices. There appears to be no security measures in place to prevent tampering or removal of data from the ETS computers by unauthorized individuals either. The increase in public interest in ETS has resulted in the staff not having the time or the energy to sift through bundles of paperwork to respond to new inquiries.
Based on client requirements and considering the immediate necessity of a solution, we propose a single web-based application. This will be accessible through the existing ETS website and also act as separate system itself. All manual systems will be computerized and internal data manipulations will be abstracted through a web interface. Parts of the web application will be accessible according differing user privileges with administrators have the most privileges and site visitors the least. The file-based system of storing student and staff records will be replaced by an online database, where data manipulation operations are possible through a database management software(DBMS). Staff need not learn how to use the DBMS software, as the developed web application will provide a user friendly interface to the records.
The System Contains:
• Single file System Installer with automated and inbuilt migration and checksum features.
• Login, Logout and Session Handling
• Main Dashboard with system stat report.
• System Root directory checksum with reports.
• Database check-up and database reports.
• Main authentication system, user level panel and customizable access level dashboard.
• System settings window with add, update and delete system settings and variables with constraints.
• Emergency SQL runner with restricted actions.
• Script editor for user defined pages.
• Dynamic menu bar for different access levels.
• Main system search and special searching algorithm.
• SMS broadcasting system powered by Dialog SMS APIs.
• Automated Backing up and restoring system using crone job requests.
• User Profile
• Support Ticketing System
• System helper (Virtual Assistant) to help identifying functions and processes.
• Logging system for all the 8 functionalities.
• IP based visitor logging system.
• Library Management System
• Financial Management System
• Staff Management System
